Kimberly Ballard has been writing professionally for over 30 years.

She is a versatile writer who has written for magazines, newspapers, the advertising and marketing industry and for broadcast radio and TV.

For the past 15 years, she has been building a reputation as a blogger, content writer, and PR writer as well.

Kimberly has a BA in Communications and a minor in Marketing and World Literature from the University of Alabama - Roll Tide!

Most recently a contributing writer at 256Today, Kimberly was one of the Huntsville Business Journal’s first writers, moving over from HBJ’s sister publication EVENT Huntsville, after writing and covering events for them for over 10 years.

She started her career selling radio advertising for an FM radio station where she wrote her own radio spots. Since then, she has worked in ad agencies, managed corporate marketing departments, supported sales in a variety of industries, and moonlighted in a variety of writing and editing positions at local TV stations, newspapers, and magazines.

News and marketing do not mix as industry veterans will tell you, but Kimberly managed to bridge that gap because she enjoys both sides having supported sales for many years, and turning to straight editorial in 2008.

Specializing in creative messaging and content on the marketing side and features and cover stories on the editorial side, she used experience from working in a Miami TV newsroom to jump into Public Relations.

In 2011, she was asked to write a series of press releases to send out to the media in 15 different markets across the country for the Air Force One Detailing Team at the Seattle Museum of Flight.

Looking for an inexpensive way to send out press releases and get them into the hands of the people who assign the stories in local markets and industry trade publications, for businesses that cannot afford nor need national distribution, she began building her own local media databases across the country.

The response from the media in all 15 markets was an overwhelming success for local small businesses who almost never do press releases.

Today she has up-to-date media contacts in thousands of large and small U.S. markets, Canada and the Caribbean.

Having written for two automotive detailing and mobile tech trade publications for 17 years, she is currently writing for Auto Laundry News/Carwash.com.

Focusing on small businesses only, this niche approach has been successful for small local businesses of all types and continues to be one of her bread 'n butter services.

KimberlyWritesCreative has written and produced TV commercials, marketing videos and PSAs, as well as ghostwriting blogs and small business newsletters.

She has also written for publications like the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Guides and Initiatives, the Huntsville Times’ R&D Report, Excursions (Huntsville), Huntsville Faces, Pulse published by Crestwood Hospital, EVENT Huntsville, and many others.

Kimberly is best known for her editorial and copywriting versatility.
